Research in Motion (RIM) BlackBerry Playbook as the producer is preparing a new marketing method for tablets. One way to be taken is to allow Android applications can run on BlackBerry OS 2.0 operating system which will be officially released next month.
The hope with this operating system combination, will be able to increase sales of the BlackBerry Playbook which is less sold on the market.
At the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2012 held in Las Vegas, RIM showcased Blackberry OS 2.0 operating system that can use Android applications on the tablet.
"With the availability of Android applications on BlackBerry OS 2.0, the popular games such as Cut The Rope and Plants vs. Zombies on the App World will be there," said Vice President of Developer Relations and Ecosystem Development RIM, Alec Saunders.
The game application can look and run like any other application. Users also do not require separate software to run Android applications. Even the Android application can be opened in multitasking, but could only be executed one by one application.
Unfortunately, RIM is still half-heartedly to open fully the Android application. Because users access to Android Market will be closed. Android application developers must use special software to make application to be compatible with the BlackBerry Playbook. In addition, the developer must also submit an application to RIM's standardization.
Restricted access to the Android Market and the standardization of the application was intended to avoid malware and pirated applications that may exist in the Android Market, the two "objects" is feared could destabilize the BlackBerry OS 2.0.
Currently, the number of applications on the Blackberry App World reaches 50,000 apps that can be downloaded both the BlackBerry and BlackBerry users Playbook. The hope, with diverse applications in the Android BlackBerry OS 2.0 may be the main attraction of users to have a Playbook.
