Meg Whitman, President and Chief Executive Office Hewlett Packard (HP) to acknowledge the deterioration in net profit by 91 percent. This decrease makes the HP must do reconstruction in various sectors and should have the right business focus.
One that will do, HP is sure to come back into the tablet market. "HP will re-enter the tablet market around mid-2012 with products that use Microsoft operating systems," said Whitman.
HP reported that fourth-quarter net profit fell to 200 million U.S. dollars from 2.5 billion U.S. dollars, or be 12 cents per share of 1.10 dollars per share in the same quarter in 2010. Apart from computer sales, revenue from business servers and notebooks also declined.
Although it will enter the tablet market, HP promised to continue to develop other businesses such as production of PCs, servers, printers, and software. For the enterprise, HP will provide data management services for the company.
HP does have a problem with management and corporate finance for 16 months. In mid-September 2011, Whitman took over as CEO of HP from Leo Apotheker previously replaces Mark Hurd.
In the old Apotheker, HP recorded failed to enter the tablet market through the use TouchPad WebOS operating system. Apotheker also had announced its intention to sell or separate the PC business unit from another unit at HP.
In contrast, Whitman precisely determined to run a business unit of HP as a strong and not as if companies are fragmented. "I feel happy with the portfolio that we have, I believe we can do better again," he said.
