LG delaying Tablet Computer |
LG Electronics to delay the launch of a tablet computer that would be a competitor iPad, by Apple Inc.. until next year. The third largest mobile phone manufacturer in the world will focus producing a smart phone to rival the iPhone. In fact, in July, LG said it plans to produce a tablet computer in the first quarter of this year.
The plan, Motorola will release phones using the Android system. A source who declined to be named, said South Korean electronics giant will introduce the product at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, January. "LG still move slightly with the mobile phone software. While the hardware is finished," the source said.
This plan changes after the turn of the allegedly high-ranking management at LG. Substitution is a result of failure to seize the mobile phone market. LG has targeted to sell 10 million units of Optimus One, but failed to compete with Samsung Electronics Co., Research In Motion Ltd. and Apple Inc..
With this plan change, the LG may not be able to compete in the tablet PC market next year. "Now the best time to launch a computer to become a top," said Im Jeong Jae, the Fund Manager of Shinhan BNP Paribas Asset Management Co.. (KONTAN / Edy Can)
